Ringwood celebrates

The King's Coronation 2023

The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen took place on Saturday 6th May, 2023. As part of a nationwide act of celebration and friendship, Ringwood Town Council hosted a celebratory event on Sunday 7th May 2023 on Bickerley Village Green.

What a day it was! After pouring rain leading up to and after the event, the day itself was glorious. Crowds flocked to the town's village green which was adorned in Union flags. They stayed for the whole afternoon, soaking up the wonderful sunshine and atmostphere. Churches Together opened proceedings with a special outdoor service with wonderful performances from local children's choirs. The main programme started at midday with a whole suite of inflatables free for children and adults alike, food and a bar, market stalls and miniature steam train. Live music entertained all afternoon showcasing some of our fabulous local talent including The Tuesdays Community Choir, Scarlet Swing, Tommy Hughes and Jodie Elms. And the junior schools faught it out for the inter schools Coronation Cup! Well done to the eventual winners, Poulner Junior School.

Thank you to Jay Cox, Ringwood TV for capturing the feel of the day so wonderfully with this film, to Ben Blinco for some amazing drone footage to our own Events Manager for recording what it all looked like on the train!
