New Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor

  • By: Ringwood Town Council

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Cllr Mary DeBoos as Town Mayor and Cllr James Swyer as Deputy Town Mayor for the coming year.

The appointments were confirmed at the Council’s Annual Meeting held on 27 May 2026, where members elected the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the year ahead.

Cllr DeBoos takes on the role during a particularly significant year for the town.

“As my hometown, Ringwood has a very special place in my heart and I'm delighted to be Town Mayor this year as we celebrate the 800th Anniversary of the Market Charter. I look forward to serving our residents, supporting local businesses and organisations, and working alongside councillors and volunteers to continue making our town a wonderful place.”

Supporting her as Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr Swyer expressed his commitment to the community:

“It's an honour to be asked to represent this wonderful community alongside our new Town Mayor and I'll do all I can to ensure all those in the town are heard and supported.”

The Council would also like to extend its sincere thanks to Cllr Rae Frederick for her two years as Town Mayor and for the energy and commitment she brought to the role.

Residents are encouraged to join in welcoming the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor and to take part in the town’s events and celebrations throughout the coming year, particularly as Ringwood marks the 800th anniversary of its historic Market Charter.
